Give Warmth
Two ways to help. Both keep someone warm.
Give money and we'll turn it into gear at bulk-purchase prices, or give the winter clothing your family has outgrown. Either way, it reaches a Minnesotan who needs it — usually within 48 hours.
Donate Money
Every dollar is stretched further through bulk purchasing partnerships with Minnesota outerwear suppliers.
Donate Winter Gear
Clean out the closet and pass along what your family has outgrown. We accept:
- Mittens & gloves
- Coats & jackets
- Winter boots
- Hats
- Scarves
- Snow pants
Items should be clean and free of rips, missing buttons, or broken zippers. New items always welcome.

Questions
Donating, answered
Where exactly does my money go?
87 cents of every dollar goes directly to purchasing and distributing winter gear. The remainder covers warehouse costs and the small staff who keep the whole operation running. Our full financial breakdown is available on request.
Can I donate by mail or in person?
Yes — checks can be mailed to our Saint Paul office, and cash or check donations are accepted at any drop-off location during posted hours.
Can I donate gear anytime, or only during the Winter Warmth Drive?
We accept gear year-round so we're stocked before the first cold snap. The fall drive just gives us a push toward a bigger seasonal goal.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The Great Mitten Exchange is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You'll receive an emailed receipt for any monetary donation.
